Classic Iced Tea Recipe

I don’t know about you guys, but I have craved iced tea soooo much over the last month as the weather has started to heat up here in Auckland… It’s 27 degrees right now! 🥵

Instead of a an iced coffee / chocolate with cream (yum but too many cals!), I often opt for an iced tea. They are super yummy, cooling and refreshing during summer. An added bonus - unlike hot tea or coffee, you won’t have to worry about burns if your bubba tries to grab it off you while you drink!

I refuse to buy any more iced tea, because $7 for some water and tea bags seems ridiculous to me. So I took it upon myself to make some DIY iced tea. I went to the dollar shop and bought a 1.2L glass jug for $5, and got some lemons at the grocery store.

It takes less than 10 minutes to make a jug full, and only uses 3 ingredients - tea bags, honey, lemon + water.

Classic Iced Tea

Ingredients

4 tea bags (English Breakfast) 🫖

3 cups of boiling water 🔥💧

3 cups of cold water ❄️💧

2 tsp honey 🍯

3 slices of lemon 🍋

Method

  1. Boil a jug of water, and measure out 3 cups into a bowl or pot.

  2. Add teabags and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Remove teabags and add honey - then leave the brew to cool down for another 5 minutes.

  4. Pour brew into a glass jug, and add 3 cups of cold water and 3 slices of lemon.

  5. Refrigerate for a couple of hours before drinking, or if you can’t wait to drink it, pop in a couple cups of ice.

If you prefer fruit tea instead, just replace the english breakfast tea bags with a peach/berry/green tea!

Enjoy!
